Mandarin Flame Discus Fish. The mandarin flame discus is one of the most vividly colored discus fish available. This discus has a beautiful overlaid color pattern that is unique even among cultivated discus. As with all cultivated discus, the mandarin flame discus is the result of cross breeding of several discus to produce the vibrant colors and unusual pattern of markings that discus are known for, and this one is truly a showstopper. The mandarin flame discus has other names, including crimson flame dragon head discus and Marlboro yellow face discus. Its yellow body is overlaid with a beautiful orange-red color that extends from just past its head almost to its tail. The gorgeous mandarin flame discus has a few white striations on its head, as well as on its pectoral fin. At the top of its body, it also has some white striations and some spots of varied sizes, and its dorsal fin has white markings also. The tail fin of the mandarin flame discus is an opaque, dark color.
The mandarin flame discus has a flat body that has a very round appearance due to the shape of its fins that extend back almost to its tail fin.
