HB Great Blue Discus Fish. The HB Great Blue discus is part of the discus family of fish. Within the family there are numerous names given to different varieties that are cultivated by selective and responsible hobbyists. They are easily recognized and become an exotic and beautiful addition to your fish tank.
These fish are an impressive blue with red striations on their pectoral and dorsal fins, their tail and their face. The striation on the face is very distinctive and can lead a person into a whole school of them. They may leave you with the distinct feeling they look like a great mask. A bright red eye with a black pupil highlights their face and adds to their attractiveness. Their tail appears to be a solid red and they are a more meaty and impressive looking discus than many other varieties people enjoy keeping.
When the HB Great Blue Discus fish is ready to be sold they are about the size of a fifty cent coin. You should know that at that age most discus fish will look the same which can lead to confusion as these are very similar to Brown discus. By 6 months of age however the HB Great Blue will be recognized by distinct characteristics and have the diameter a little larger than that of a tennis ball. The HB Great Blue is not a shy fish, in fact they tend to be a little more on the bold side. They are a great community fish and very peaceful, adding beauty to many tanks in small schools.
